About this Style
Originally released as the "501® Z," these 1954 501® jeans represent Levi's® expansion into new territory. Up to this point, Levi's® were primarily worn out West, where they had earned a loyal following. East Coasters, however, were largely unfamiliar with this button fly work pant.
In order to familiarize the East Coast with this American classic, Levi's® took the original 501® Shrink-to-Fit™ jean and replaced the classic button fly with a zipper, and named it the "501® Z." It retained all the other details loved by longtime wearers: the famed silhouette, rivets and tough-but-flexible denim. Eventually, retailers began providing customers with both options—the 501® jean and its zippered brother, the 501® Z.
Today, we recreated the latter in classic selvedge denim for these 1954 501® jeans to help tell the story of the 501® and its evolution through the decades.

A nice homage to vintage jeans!

This is my first purchase from Levi's and I've been looking for a good heritage-inspired style that would suit my wardrobe. Needless to say, the LVC 1954 jeans ticked all of my boxes except for one thing, I wish the rise would have been a bit higher. I usually tuck my shirts in and it's more flattering to have a higher rise for a tall and slender body like mine. Nevertheless, the jeans look and feels great. I can clearly tell the quality from touching the denim.
As for the fit, it's a good thing that I did a little bit of research before buying it, because I would've gotten my usual size in jeans which is size 33. This is a shrink-to-fit jeans, meaning the jeans would shrink as soon as you wash it. That's why it is advisable to go 2 sizes up when choosing from the LVC collection. I wish AU Levi's website has more information about this especially for people buying online.
Knowing about the nature of the jeans, I still went for size 34x34 (unfortunately, that's the only available size online) which weirdly enough fits about right on my waist pre-washed. After washing it with cold water, the hem now rest nicely on my ankle which is how I prefer it. The jeans is hugging just right on my legs as well and doesn't restrict my movements too much. The waist however, is a bit tight but still wearable. At least I can still tuck my tee or shirts in there without looking like a muffin. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my purchase and would definitely get the bigger size as I'm eyeing the 1955 jeans for my next buy.

Great jeans. Had to buy the best pair to get what I was really looking for. Very fitted. Get your actual size or larger if you plan on shrinking them.

STF, BUT VERY TRUE TO SIZE

Unlike many other's experience with STF jeans, the waist on these were on the dot of measurement. In other words, I had to return. I normally wear 32 for all levis washed/treated jeans. So, I bought 33 for this particular jeans for shrinkage, but it already fit like tight 32, because the waist was 16.5'' flat. I hope levis QC manage sizing better.

These are selvedge. They shrink. When I saw that Levis FINALLY offered these in a 36 inseam I scooped a pair up. Then I get sent a 32W and 34 inseam. Returned. These also didn't come with the small history book my older pair of 1947's came with. I shouldn't be paying what I paid for these anyway.

Ordered some of these - got sent totally the wrong jeans - never really got a proper apology- now I see they are not saying if they are shrink to fit or not ! Come on - up your game !! Don’t know if to trust ordering again.
