Beautiful Japanese Denim, But Size Up!

These are my first pair of Japanese selvage denim, and I’m very happy to finally add a pair to my collection. The quality is excellent, and the deep, rich blue color looks incredible.
Just be aware that these run extremely small compared to typical Levi’s jeans. I actually had to reorder them three different times to get the right size. The website also didn’t clearly advertise them as shrink-to-fit, so the sizing and expected shrinkage caught me off guard.
Overall, I’m very happy with them and can’t wait to watch them fade and age beautifully over time.

Awesome quality

I own many pairs of selvedge jeans made various high end companies. These Levi’s fit great and the construction is great. Not a single loose thread hanging anywhere. The fabric is flawless, with no imperfections. I really like the cut on these. It’s a little slimmer than I normally get, but looks a lot more cleaned up when wearing. Love the fact that the selvedge is made in Japan on authentic looms. The leather patch and inside Japanese label are a nice touch. Keep in mind that selvedge shrinks significantly after first soak, so size up accordingly. There’s plenty of info online for this. Once broken in, these will hold up forever and get even better looking as they age.

best jeans ever

Absolutely worth it. I ordered last W31xL32. I am so lucky :)
Before ordering, I tried on the regular 501 Original Fit in-store and ended up buying the Blue Tab 1980s 501 in the exact same size. The fit is absolutely perfect.
The silhouette is beautiful and gorgeous and the fabric quality immediately stands out. It feels premium, comfortable, and keeps making me want to wear them. Out of every pair of jeans I’ve owned, these are by far my favorite.
I almost didn’t buy them because I read that this fit doesn’t suit most Asian body types. However, if you’re on the taller side, the cut creates a longer-leg look and fits incredibly well. It definitely does for me.
The denim has enough substance to feel premium, but it isn’t so heavy that it’s uncomfortable in the summer. It’s the perfect balance between durability and comfort.
To me, this is the line that truly represents what a classic pair of Levis jeans should be.

Premium jeans

I noticed on the site at the time of buying it showed that customers stated these ran big (I normally wear a 32/33 and purchased 33 which fit perfect without a belt). I would say these are true to size if they do run big it might be by a very small amount. Downside is I normally wear a 30 length but shortest they have is 32 so they are too long for my liking (I’m 5’ 11”) and I need to get them tailored to shorten them. The quality of them though is very nice, they are a heavier denim and the stitchings are all great. Pocket openings do feel a bit “tight” but you can still easily fit your phone or wallet in, not a fan of the button fly though. Overall they are some solid jeans if you’re looking for something more “unique/premium”.

1980s look and feel great. The straight leg is perfect width and the Japanese denim has the perfect texture and weight.so comfortable. Run large and purchased one size smaller for the perfect fit.
