Levi’s® Made & Crafted® x POGGYTHEMAN
Our latest Levi’s® Made & Crafted® collaboration was designed in partnership with international style icon and United Arrows & Sons creative director, Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi — known to most as POGGYTHEMAN.
Since he was a teenager, Poggy’s drawn much of his inspiration from the intersection between streetwear and classic American workwear.
“I grew up with street culture, and in the 1990’s there were many great fashion magazines in Japan that I learned from. So, I’m trying to mix workwear and traditional details with a street attitude as well as a vintage look.”
This unique Fall/Winter 2018 capsule ties together the craftsmanship and ruggedness of classic workwear with the fashion-forward styling and creativity often found on the street.
Combing through the Levi’s® Archives in San Francisco, Poggy found WWII-era workwear chore coats, overalls, hats and button-down shirts that served as further creative fuel for this collection. Poggy’s favorite brainchild: the X POGGY MCQUEEN PANT which features a brand-new, slightly tapered fit with no yoke on the back and a painted bow pattern on the inside of its pockets.
More than just a nod to Poggy’s love of traditional workwear, the collection’s also a celebration of the enduring popularity of vintage clothing — especially Levi’s® — in Japan. It’s a lineup made for the “Levi’s® lover” who appreciates the mashup of street culture and old-school style adorned with traditional details.
The capsule pieces, many made in Japan, feature a Levi’s® Made & Crafted® indigo tab alongside Poggy’s own signature tab and include everything from tees and caps, to work coats and overalls.
