DOLORES HUERTA: My name is Dolores Huerta. We all know that throughout the ages that many women have done very magnificent and wonderful things and yet their stories are lost in history. I believe this is why they call it his-story, history, instead of her-story. And so we have to change that because we know that we have so many women, not only that they are leaders but they have leadership qualities. And one of the things that we have to do is say to women, you really got to stand up for yourself, especially our young women, to be able to be the same. I always like to quote Coretta Scott King who said, “We will never have peace in the world until women take power.” When we have women at every single board where decisions are being made, we know that if women are going to be at that table, and I like to use the word feminist, that we know that they are going to make the right decisions because we do need women’s voices, that women want, that they want it not only for themselves, but for everyone. We need women in leadership. We need women in power with opportunities and economic and racial justice for everyone. We can do it. Si se puede. Yes we can.
