Sometimes, a slight chemical or “mothball” smell can develop during shipping and storage. This is fairly common and usually temporary. It can occur due to: Manufacturing Chemicals: Jeans are treated with dyes and finishing agents, which can leave a residual smell if not properly aired out. Packaging & Storage: Tight plastic packaging can trap odors, making them more noticeable when you first open them. Warehouse Environment: Factors like humidity or pest control measures can contribute to odors during storage. To help resolve the issue, we recommend airing the jeans out or washing them according to the care instructions. If the odor persists, soaking them in a vinegar and water solution, followed by a cold rinse, can be effective. You might also try running a baking soda and vinegar cleaning cycle in your washing machine for added freshness. Rest assured, the materials used in our jeans are safe and meet industry standards.
