History of an Icon

On May 20, 1873, Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis were granted patent number 139,121 for the process of riveting work pants to make them stronger and more durable. Those work pants? They became known as the 501® Original, our five-pocketed, button-fly, straight fit that would go on to become the blueprint of modern-day jeans everywhere.
