I've been wearing Levis all my life - they are my day-to-day goto jeans. A few years back, I'd order several sizes they were so inconsistent, and I'd send the rejects back. But past few years seems like they have that sorted out. I just order my size and they fit. These are a mid-to-heavy weight, feel substantial, and look great. The selvedge MIJ jeans are always worth grabbing when you can. Some people complain about the weight of the denim compared to the "old days". I think you just need to shop more carefully as there are far more options than in the past. There are many weights and types of fabrics to suit different needs. Some of the lighter ones are much better in the hot summer!

Worth Every Penny

These Japense Selvedge 511 jeans are definitely worth the premium price. The fit, finish, materials, and construction are clearly next level as compared to the non-Japanese selvedge premium jeans Levis sells. I'm likely only going with this version of their 511s. Given just how expensive they are, I suppose it's a good thing there aren't more color/wash variations available.

Really well made and they just look and feel top quality. Fit is true to size for me (34W/32L, I wish it was the other way round, but there we go). I like to cuff my jeans so it is great to have the selvedge which just finishes them nicely. I am not sure I would buy them at the full price but in the sale and using my 'points', they were a bargain.

These Made In Japan are magnificent. The attention to detail is exceptional. I have 8 pair of these fabulous. I go on Levi’s site regularly to see if they have them back in stock. They run out of my size so I often check to see if they have them back in stock. You can’t go wrong with these jeans.

Stretch kills!

I like the fits (511, 514) but buying a good levi's seems like a gamble sometimes: So I thought paying a higher price for a premium line would fix my problems with levi's: Nice try but you can do even better. I give it: The blue tab is significantly better Quality than the casual line. More effort on the details: e.g. the blue leather patch, different belt loops. decent washing, good quality stitching. But: The copper rivets dont fit the muted blue colorway AND what really kills me: still TOOO MUCH STRETCH, the jeans bulges at knees, looks distorted at the bottom, and doesnt stay in place at the hip. Especially if it is sold and branded as no stretch (0%) - not true.
