What is the difference between high-rise and mid-rise shorts?

The difference between high-rise and mid-rise shorts is all about where the waistband of your denim sits. High-rise shorts have a waistband that hits at or above your navel for a cinched, curve-enhancing fit. Mid-rise shorts feature a waistband that sits just below the navel, making them a nice choice for petite frames or anyone with a shorter torso.

Wear them at the pool, on a summer stroll or attending your favorite concert. Go true-to-size for a snug fit or size up if you’d prefer a roomier fit.

Do Levi's® shorts run true to size?

In general, Levi’s® shorts run true-to-size. If you prefer extra room, we recommend sizing up or going with a relaxed-fit style. You should also take fabric into account when deciding on your size.While 100% cotton denim will contour to your body with wear, stretch denim gives more “give” from the get-go. Every style of Levi’s® shorts has its own fit. Here are a few of our favorites: - Superlow shorts are ultra-low short shorts made from non-stretch denim. These have a snug, standard fit. - The 501® Original shorts are high-rise and fitted through the hip, made with non-stretch denim–for a snug, vintage-inspired fit. - '80s Mom shorts are high-rise throwbacks from the mom-jean decade. They have an A-line leg opening cut to lengthen your legs and are relaxed through the hip. - Baggy Dad shorts are mid-rise, vintage-styled jorts and loose through the hip and thigh. Easy, relaxed and still flattering.

Will Levi’s® shorts stretch out?

Depending on the material, your Levi’s® shorts may slightly change shape with repeated wear. 100% cotton denim will mold to your body with minimal stretching while stretch denim will have a little more give. You can ward off unwanted stretching by avoiding over washing or being careful not to dry on high heat. When spot-cleaning is no longer an option, wash your Levi’s® shorts inside out on a cold gentle cycle. Either air dry away from direct sunlight or tumble dry low. You can also lay your Levi’s® shorts flat to dry. This prevents the fabric from warping. Wash them no more than once every 10 wears to keep them fitting correctly and minimize sagging.
