Stiffer than I expected; nothing a little fabric softener and a couple washing didn’t fix. Dark blue is dark blue! I still miss the two belt loops that were removed from the back years ago… Still the best jeans on the market!

I'm not a fan of pre/faux distressed jeans so I purchased a pair of Rigid 505's in my regular size + length. They were deep indigo in color with that almost shiny appearance of "raw" denim - and similarly stiff. Seemed darker than the 501STF are when new. They were big when I put them on. Wore them 5 or six times before washing (cold, inside out) and drying (in the dryer, low setting, with other dark jeans+pants). They came out fitting almost perfectly! Still may be slightly large in the waist and thighs, but I'm betting the next wash will bring 'em down. They also softened up considerably. Denim weight is substantial without being too heavy. Should be comfortable for all but the steamiest of summer days.

Amazing jeans - comes stiff and wear forever

I've been wearing these jeans forever and through every "stone washed", ripped faded fancy jean fad that comes around. If you want to be fashionable, wear the classic! They come dark and stiff and as you wear them they learn to fit you like a glove until they are baby soft and light blue. A real man's jean!

I really like the dark finish without all of the whiskering. Nice heavy weight.
They were a little long but after a couple of times through the washer and dryer, I had them altered and now they're perfect.

Great Product in comparison to competitors

With this good weight denim, this is a great product in Raw denim which shrinks. No doubt the quality overall has declined but this is true for all the brands and still Levi's is doing okay in maintaining the after sales services. The competitors are selling such denim in higher price.

This is my first pair of 505's. I have always purchased 501's in 30x30 which is a little big in the waist. For this 505 Rigid I got 29x30 and it's perfect. I love the color and the fact that it's 14 oz.

these jeans feel like they were made for me!!!! I would treat these like STF 501's. Not in sizing but in care. They won't shrink like STF 501's but I wash them once before wearing them and get at least 5 to 6 wearings before washing them again. I love the rigid indigo material!!!! I used to be a STF 501 guy but am now a 505 rigid indigo guy!!!!!

From "the box", these jeans are unwashed, too big and too long. After reading other reviews on how to treat "unsanforized" jeans, I soaked these in luke warm water for 2 hours, changing the water once. I then washed them inside-out in warm water & tumble dried on high heat. I have since washed them 3 more times and they fit great, true to size.

I ordered my regular size. I washed and dried the jeans before wearing and they fit perfectly. I expect these jeans to continue to wear for a long time and to acquire mellow character as they age. One caveat. I am going to wash separately for the first 4 or 5 washes, as I expect the dye to run. I highly recommend.

These jeans are larger than specified on the label.
But examining this issue has come to the conclusion that the need to take one size in the waist and subtract 2 sizes in length from its normal fit 501.
For example: 501 32x34 = 505 31x32.
I can say that I was not mistaken and jeans sat perfectly with the fact that they are like regular jeans will shrink slightly after the first wash. But do not confuse them with the STF, they do not give a shrink ever.

I have been reading some of the reviews from people. The people that say these are way to big compared to their other 505's they have purchased need to understand that these are unwashed and untreated denim. What that means is they will shrink down to the tagged size once they are soaked or washed. They are similar to the 501 shrink to fits. If you are looking to buy these please research what to do with unsanforized denim. You will understand why these come much bigger than the tagged size. If you dont have the time or the patience for what these jeans require dont buy them because they require some work. If you make the choice to do what I suggest, U will never go back to pre treated jeans again.

I just got this pair today & as I expected, the jeans are a bit big out of the box. But these are raw jeans, so they should shrink a bit after the 1st wash. I bought my exact size 34x32 & they should fit me well after I wear them as long as I can before washing.

32x34s fits me perfectly, which is no problems with 501, 527,514,569. I read reviews so I ordered 30x32 this time. when I got it finally, I tired it on. Length is like 32 which is a bit short but still ok. Waist is like 31 which is a bit tight. Material is what I expected, very much tough and very much hard. This is so far the hardest jeans I have ever seen. I am going to another one 31x34, see if will fit me perfect. I really like this jean expect for the confusing sizing. I have washed it, cold water, very serious color fading, so I did not leave it long in water. Drying in air, no shrink found.

As always, I'm happy with my Levi's 505's. They're always true to size and shrinkage is minimal. It's hard to ask for more then that.

I have always worn the 505 rigid jeans that sits on the waist. I am a Mechanical Engineer and I go to the office with it. I also go to business occasions as it suits all occasions. The new cut 505 that sits below the waist is not as suitable for those occasions. I would prefer if the 505 that sits on the waist remains. All my pants are 505 rigid jeans.

Purchased 2 pair of rigid 505's because I had heard they were the closest jeans to the old style unwashed levis. They were exactly what I wanted. No twisting when I washed them. I get to wear them out all by myself. Old Style Im Happy

This is a great heavyweight jeans, they run little big but that is fine because the tag says that they will shrink 5% making them perfect after a wash. I plan to not wash them as long as possible and enjoy them after they break in.

I've always liked the 505 jean. The rigid jean is one of the best. I had read some other reviews and decided to buy bigger since some reviews stated that there was shrinkage. The length was very long. I should have ordered a 30 in. inseean instead of 32 in. Still a great buy. Will have to wait to see if there is too much shrinkage.
