About this Style
Everything changed during World War II. The United States government informed
all clothing manufacturers that they had to remove a certain amount of metal,
fabric and thread from their garments in order to conserve the raw materials for
the war effort. Levi Strauss & Co. did what it could to abide by the rules. Off came
the watch pocket rivets, the crotch rivet and the cinch, along with its two rivets
(which eliminated both fabric and metal.)
Buttons became standard issue during the war and featured a laurel leaf design.
Sometimes the buttons were branded; sometimes the waistband had the laurel
leaf and the fly buttons were plain. The only explanation is that delivery of
sundries was hit-and-miss during the war years, and the brand sometimes had to
use what it had on hand.
There was one rationing rule that was a little harder to bear: the order to remove
the Arcuate Stitching Design from the back pockets, because it was considered
decorative and didn’t have a function. Well, LS&Co. thought it did: it was one of the
prime identifiers of classic 501® Jeans. Rather than lose this important design,
LS&Co. worked out a system to print the Arcuate Stitching Design on every pair
of 501® Jeans that came out of the factory. The paint eventually washed off, but
having that stitching visible when buying the jeans was the important thing.

The most reliable jeans in the world!
This is a great pair of WW2 repro jeans and i treat them as a work wear,my job is a truck deliverer and i always need to pick up heavy things.I wear them to work for 4 months after 1 soak and never washed them during the period, the jeans still staying very strong and never get any blowouts! Also the fades are amazing, making it more historical and gave me a dramatic look.
I bought my true size and they shrank 2 inches after a hot soak, and will stretch back to the original size after 2 days of wear(2 working days),making it a pair of very comfortable jeans, also the denim fabric is sturdy, you don't have to worry about the blowouts and you can really reliance on it.
I would recommend this product to my friends, thank you Levi's!

Comfort and style at its best!
I’ve always wanted a good pair of Jeans and spent a lot of time looking for the right pair. After a few months of research, I decided to go with the 1944 Levi’s. This was my first pair of “shrink to fit” jeans so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Let me tell you that this was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I followed the sizing directions, as well as the shrink to fit process, and the jeans fit perfectly! Hands down the most comfortable and best fitting pair of jeans I’ve ever owned. I think I’ve worn them every day for the past month! Not to mention getting the iconic Levi’s name and a “made in the USA” product. I am a customer for life, and will be buying another pair very soon. Well worth the money!

Great Fit
After trying various fits and brands of jeans, this one is my most favorite. I do not like slim and low rise fit even though I have a slim build. This one has a good balance between comfort, utility and style; it brings out the masculinity of jeans. It has longer rise but you can wear it low or high, works great. I like it so much and ordered 2nd pair.

Amazing Fit
I love the fit. They remind me of the 501's of the 70's and 80's that had almost as high a rise. With that said , the quality of the 44's denim is light years ahead of the jeans I bought as a kid. I bought my true size in the waist and 2x in length and soaked them in hot water for about an hour a half. I wore them for about 10 min. then hung them to dry. The length shrank 2x.
The waist stretched back to my size during an hour of wear after being air dried. The painted arcuate lost no definition after the soak. Great that they are made in the U.S.A. Thanks Levi's for a true quality jean and keep pumping these out..I may need more!

The Real Deal
The 1944's are exactly what I expected. Bought a pair 6 months ago for casual wear and then decided to work in them (excavation). Just bought another pair for casual dress, pairing with a white American grown cotton seed to sow shirt for the perfect combination. Buy true to size, wear in tub for 30 min, hang dry inside out, then wear. Will stretch a little and become comfortable. You only get what you pay for and these jeans are worth every penny.

Really Thoughtful Reproduction
I just got these to add to my other LVC 501s - I also have the '78 and '47. I found that these shrink-to-fit just as the others did, so buy a size up from what you normally would. Mine shrank 1" in the waist and 3" on the inseam.
The denim itself feels good and is very dark. I very much enjoy the higher rise - a size 34 has a 13.25" rise. The painted arcuates and laurel leaf buttons are a nice touch. I think this pair will become a favorite in my rotation.
