These days, we appreciate moms more than ever before. COVID-19 has locked many moms in their homes with their children, which means they have to be parents, partners and employees at the same time, every single day. With so many families all in one place, there’s no better time to celebrate mothers and all they do.
SHANNON (7 MONTHS)
My body’s changed. I don’t fit into my old jeans anymore, and I don’t think I ever will. It’s like my bones have moved. My foot grew an entire size — I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m trying to figure out my new style.
It’s still weird that this is my baby. Sometimes we’ll be playing around, and it’s like “I can’t believe we made this guy.” I’m 38, so I’m an adult, and of all my friends, I’m the last to get on the baby train. But I’m still like, “I’m too young for this!”

With a 10-year age gap, you’re managing a lot of different life stages. When they’re younger, it’s physically demanding, because you’ve got to keep up with them. When they’re older, it’s emotionally demanding, because they’re making decisions that have a life impact. And I’m doing both at the same time.

BABY BOY COMING SOON
For maternity clothes, I’ve been stealing my husband’s Trucker Jackets. I usually wear a lot of neutrals and blacks and grays, and I stuck with that so I’d feel like I’m still me. I’ve gotten advice from people that you have to keep a part of yourself, even after the baby comes. You have to make time for yourself and with your partner.

My husband and I are quite independent. We’re very free, chill and quiet. But Lara’s so extroverted. She pushes us out of our shell, to be more social. I feel like every day she comes home from a walk with something for me. I have so many dried flowers from her because she always has something to share.

My sons are loving being cooped up with me. I don’t live close to the office, so before, I was just cooking for them on the weekends. Now I’m cooking every day. It’s our bonding time. A lot comes out in our meal conversations.
And they’re really fun right now. My youngest is six, and my oldest is 10. They’re rambunctious and fun and say cool things, and they can take care of themselves, but they still like me. This is the time I was waiting for.

It’s just me and the boys. There’s been a lot of cooking, a lot of music in the house. We made a list of all the movies we want to watch — there’s a good 30 movies on there, and they run the gamut. My boys had their spring breaks at different times. The way you could tell if someone was on spring break was if they were in the corner seat on the couch.

I have a Trucker that I’d love to give my girls one day, and another rigid Trucker that they love to wear. I’ve customized two of my Levi’s® hoodies into crop-tops, and they wear those. My girls steal my things now. I don’t let them wear my shoes — they still do. I’ve seen my shoes put back in the closet wrong. They’re sneaky kids.

My kids are dressed in head-to-toe Levi’s®. My oldest daughter is three inches taller than me now, but there was a period of time where she didn’t want to wear jeans passed down from her mom. I’ve tried to give her 721s, and she’s refused to take them. Then one day she came home with a new pair of 721s! I was like, “You know those are the exact pair I tried to give you, right?”
