LEVI’S® AND COME TEES PARTNER FOR A PUNK-INSPIRED COLLECTION
Campaigns and Collaborations /
March 2022
Levi’s® and LA artist Sonya Sombreuil of Come Tees partnered on a limited edition run of patch-covered 501’s® and graphic t-shirt that puts underground fashion front and center. Sonya’s work effortlessly blends artistry and anarchy, punk subculture and California cool. Each unique piece is a personal canvas to showcase streetwear style with a distinct LA imprint.
Come Tees has been a fixture in the underground fashion scene since it first launched a decade ago and can count among its fans and aficionados the likes of Rihanna and Kanye West. The highly collectible and sought-after pieces are personal works of art for Sonya, who draws upon punk ethos, spiritual inclination, and west-coast influence for inspiration.
Customized and designed in Sonya’s LA studio, all 10 pairs of one-of-a-kind 501® jeans as well as the graphic tees are available exclusively on the Levi’s® app. In addition to the apparel, the collection also features DIY customization kits, which will be available at the Levi’s® Store in Century City shortly after launch. Each kit is comprised of customization elements including thread, needle, acrylic markers & Come Tees patches designed by Sonya, celebrating the punk spirit of personal style and making Levi’s® entirely your own.
The partnership with Come Tees was born out of a desire to build stronger connections with local communities through the support of local talent and value driven organizations. Based out of LA, Sonya felt connected to Watts Community Core, a non-profit committed to making a difference for youth in Nickerson Gardens & the surrounding areas of Watts. From offering a safe space for after school activity to mentorship, education & food relief services, their goal is to provide invaluable resources that positively impact the community every day.
To support Watts Community Core in their mission, Sonya will host a DIY workshop at the community center, where she will guide members as they customize jeans & trucker jackets, along with a monetary donation to benefit the after-school programs.
Stay tuned for more on Sonya’s workshop with Watts Community Core and details on the DIY Customization Kits.
