I am usually a 28-29. I bought a 27 which were tight upon purchase. I was recommended to go down to 26, which I now realize I totally could have with the soft stretch but the 27 are still comfortable and have a flattering relaxed fit. I didn't believe they would loosen up that much but they did. Definitely size down 1-2 sizes! I paid full price, I would have been happier at a sale price, I think these are pretty expensive BUT then again they are the most suitable denim shorts that I have now. Longer in the leg so they can be more formal (casual work wear), loose enough to have the freedom to move around and breathe! For the reviews that complain about the weird or baggy fit, this is the style, as seen in the photo, they have a very loose look and the only place they are fitted is along the belt line (assuming you get your sizing right)! I think what is cool about these shorts is that depending on how you WANT them to fit, you can choose what size and it completely changes the look of the short while still fitting. I am 5'7" and 145 lbs for reference.

They are quite perfect except DO listen to the reviews! I'm normally a size 29 (occasionally 28) and I sized down to a 28 because of the reviews but I have to re-order in a size 27; maybe even 26 !? which I neverrr am (also the Levi ribcage jeans fit me perfectly in size 29 btw) hope this helps !

Je mesure 1m58 pour 58kg, je mets habituellement du 28 (38 FR), du 27 chez levis et j’ai suivi les conseils en prenant du 26 et c’est parfait ! Look vintage, il marque bien ma taille tout en restant ample aux cuisses j’adore! Je regrette qu’il n’existe pas en d’autres couleurs.

I'm usually an 8/10 in jeans and I went with a size 30 in these. Initially they were a little looser than I expected, but I prefer my shorts on the comfier side. After drying them they shrunk just the right amount so now they fit perfectly! Love the slightly longer length - I'm pear shaped and these are plenty roomy where I need them to be while still fitting my waist.

Bought these shorts because I thought they had a really cute 80s look to them and I love how high they sit on the waist. If you’re looking to purchase definitely size down maybe 1 or 2 sizes because they’re oversized. I’m usually a 28, sometimes a 27, and I ended up needing a 26!

I have a smaller waist and large thighs so finding shorts is always a struggle! The thighs were loose but not stretchy! And the waist was a little small! I normally wear a 27 and ordered a 28 but easily could have worn a 29! These shorts fit like a dream and I would totally order more!

These shorts fit very well. As suggested, I recommend sizing up. My waist measures around 32-34" and my hips are 42-43", I purchased a 31 size. It still does fit a bit baggy around the waist but I like it this way, since it allows me to create a cinched look with a belt, or have a sporty "low-rise" look by letting it fall down a bit. If you do want a tighter look, I'd recommend sizing 2-3 sizes below the size chart recommendations.
