Lies weiter, um mehr über Evelynn aus ihrem Mund zu erfahren.  ## Ich war eines dieser Kinder, die auf Bäume geklettert sind oder im Wald gespielt haben, als sie jünger waren, also war meine Liebe zur Natur immer da. ### FANGEN WIR MIT DEINEM BACKGROUND UND DEINER BEZIEHUNG ZUR NATUR AN. Ich stamme ursprünglich aus Nord Virginia, bin aber jetzt seit sechs Jahren hier in Los Angeles. Als ich aufwuchs, war eines der Dinge, auf die ich mich immer gefreut habe, meine Tante in L.A. zu besuchen und mit ihr zu wandern. Ich erinnere mich an eine meiner ersten Wanderungen, ich war etwa 10 Jahre alt, wir sind zum Griffith Observatorium gegangen und ich dachte, es wäre das Coolste überhaupt! Es ist immer noch einer meiner Lieblingswanderwege in L.A., und das war der Zeitpunkt, an dem der Grundstein für meine Leidenschaft gelegt wurde. Ich war eines dieser Kinder, die auf Bäume geklettert sind oder im Wald gespielt haben, als sie jünger waren, also war meine Liebe zur Natur immer da.  ### ERZÄHLE UNS VON HIKE CLERB. WAS HAT DICH DAZU INSPIRIERT, ES ZU GRÜNDEN? Ich habe Hike Clerb 2017 gegründet, um Women of Color zusammen und in die freie Natur zu bringen. Als ich 23 war, bin ich zum ersten Mal in den Zion Nationalpark gefahren, und ich glaube, ich habe nie wirklich darüber nachgedacht, bis ich dort war und dachte: „Wow, das ist so homogen“. Man denkt an diese Orte als große touristische Ziele, und man denkt, dass sie für das Aussehen des Landes repräsentativ sind - aber das sind sie nicht. Ich war irgendwie schockiert über den Mangel an Diversität, Präsenz und Teilhabe, den man da draußen sieht. Als Schwarze und indigene Frau, die mit anderen schwarzen und indigenen Frauen befreundet ist, die auch die Natur genießen, hatte ich das Gefühl, dass niemand uns jemals wirklich das Gefühl gegeben hat, sicher zu sein, oder dass wir da draußen repräsentiert werden. Die Gründung von Hike Clerb war für mich eine Möglichkeit, Raum für andere zu schaffen, aber auch kollektiv Raum einzunehmen und zu zeigen, dass wir auch hier draußen hingehören. Ich wollte einen sicheren Raum schaffen, in dem man sich als man selbst zeigen kann. Und dass diese Erfahrung schließlich zum Samenkorn für die eigene Selbsterfahrung in der Natur wird.  ## WARUM GLAUBST DU, DASS ES FÜR PEOPLE OF COLOR SCHWIERIG IST, IN UNSEREN NATURGEBIETEN ERHOLUNG, ABENTEUER UND TROST ZU FINDEN? Wenn man sich den Kern der Sache näher betrachtet, war das schon immer mit einem Makel behaftet. Wir alle leben auf gestohlenem Land. Der einzige Weg, wie wir diese Outdoor Parks erhalten oder sogar schaffen können, ist die Verdrängung der Menschen, die diese Orte ursprünglich bewohnt haben. Die Natur wird als eine Idylle gesehen, aber sie ist durch Gewalt, Genozide und Zwangsarbeit getrübt. Aufgrund der Geschichte des Landes, auf dem wir leben, gibt es eine Kluft zwischen vielen verschiedenen Kulturen, die sie als Zuflucht und als Ort der Heilung und Erholung suchen.  ## WAS BEDEUTET ES FÜR DICH, IN DER NATUR RAUM EINZUNEHMEN? Raum einzunehmen bedeutet, sich ganz authentisch als man selbst zu zeigen. Nicht das Gefühl zu haben, sich anpassen oder einfügen zu müssen, oder sich in etwas hineinzubegeben, das unnatürlich für einen ist, damit andere sich wohlfühlen. Es geht darum, stark zu sein und zu wissen, dass wir genauso ein Recht darauf haben, so viel Raum einzunehmen wie jeder andere auch. Es geht darum, sich genauso wohl zu fühlen, wie man ist, und das zu nutzen, um hoffentlich andere mit ins Boot zu holen. Je mehr Raum wir einnehmen, desto mehr zerstören wir diese Vorstellung, die von der Vorherrschaft der Weißen angeheizt wird: dass diese Dinge nicht für uns sind oder dass wir nicht da draußen hingehören. ## Die Natur wird als eine Idylle gesehen, aber sie ist durch Gewalt, Genozide und Zwangsarbeit getrübt. ### DU HAST EINE STARKE PRÄSENZ IN DEINER COMMUNITY, SOWOHL ONLINE ALS AUCH OFFLINE. WIE SCHAFFST DU ES, DAS MIT DEINER GANZEN ARBEIT UNTER EINEN HUT ZU BRINGEN UND TROTZDEM NOCH ZEIT FÜR DICH SELBST ZU FINDEN? Hike Clerb ist ein großer Teil der Arbeit, die ich mache, aber wir sind sehr vielseitige Wesen. Letztendlich bin ich diese kleine Jungfrau, die auf alles Mögliche steht – ob es sich um Nail Art, Sneakers oder Streetwear handelt. Alles, was mich dazu antreibt, weiterhin das zu tun, was ich tue, wird von meinem eigenen Zieldenken und den Frauen bestimmt, die mir so sehr dabei geholfen haben, selbstbewusst aufzutreten. Ich bin nicht alleine bis hierhin gekommen und das ist es, was mir hilft, weiterzumachen und zu lernen.  ## MIT DER STEIGENDEN VORSICHT, GERADE JETZT DRAUSSEN ZU SEIN, WELCHEN RAT HAST DU FÜR JEMANDEN, DER SICH WIEDER MIT DER NATUR VERBINDEN ODER ZUM ERSTEN MAL RAUS WAGEN MÖCHTE? Tue einfach, was du kannst, mit dem, was du hast. Mache kleine Spaziergänge in der Natur, setze dich in den Park, stecke deine nackten Füße ins Gras und erde dich auf diese Art. Hol dir die Natur ins Haus: Pflege deine Pflanzen und mache das zu einem Teil deiner täglichen Routine. Die meisten Menschen denken, dass man physisch draußen sein muss, um sich mit der Natur zu verbinden. Es ist wichtig, sich daran zu erinnern, dass im Grunde wir die Natur sind. Wir sind ein Teil dieses großen Ökosystems, also haben wir von Haus aus eine natürliche Verbindung. Tatsächlich erwarte ich in diesem Frühjahr mein erstes Kind! Mutter zu werden, während die ganze Welt auf den Kopf gestellt wird, ist ernsthaft verrückt – aber auf die schönste Art und Weise. Wie viele von uns bin ich in der Pandemie durch einige Höhen und Tiefen gegangen und habe so manche neue Erkenntnis gewonnen. Aber ich plane, auf der Grundlage, die ich bereits für mich geschaffen habe, und mit Hike Clerb weiterzumachen. Eine Grundlage, mit der ich, so gut ich kann, dazu beitrage, dass sich Women of Color, insbesondere schwarze und indigene Frauen in ihrer Arbeit gesehen und unterstützt fühlen.
