dragen, deel 22 # Levi's® PR Specialist Christopher Dalglish over doe-het-zelven tijdens de pandemie, Londense stijl en beter kopen. ### [__Stijl__](https://www.levi.com/BE/nl_BE/blog/category/styled-by-levis) /  juli 2021 Share  *Christopher Dalglish kocht zijn allereerste Levi's® als tiener, toen hij met zijn familie op vakantie was in Florida. Op dat moment stond de pond sterk ten opzichte van de dollar, dus voor hem leek het alsof alles de helft goedkoper was. Dus hij kon zich eens goed uitleven in de grote outletcentra. Daar kocht hij twee baggy jeans, ofja, hij weet eigenlijk niet zeker of ze ontworpen waren als losser model, of dat het eerder het effect was van een taillemaat 36 op een 13-jarig jongetje. Sindsdien is er veel veranderd. De dollar staat een stuk sterker en Christopher werkt nu als PR Specialist bij Levi's®. Maar één ding is niet veranderd: hij draagt zijn denim nog altijd in een grotere maat. Dit is, in zijn eigen woorden, wat hij draagt.* Ik ben opgegroeid in het noordoosten van Schotland, dat ligt vrij afgelegen van alles. Omdat er geen grote steden in de buurt waren, zocht ik inspiratie in skatevideo’s en tijdschriften over skaten en basketbal. Dus ik werd sterk beïnvloed door hiphop, basketbal en de Amerikaanse cultuur. Als jonge twintiger verhuisde in naar Glasgow en daar kwam ik veel meer in aanraking met herenstijlen en streetwear. Mijn stijl is een mix van alles wat mij in mijn jeugd beïnvloed heeft. Ik kan zomaar Levi's® Skate, Levi's® Vintage Clothing en Levi's® Made & Crafted® tegelijk aanhebben. Ik voeg ook graag T-shirts of accessoires van platenlabels of skatemagazines die ik leuk vind aan mijn outfits toe. De laatste tijd raak ik vooral geïnspireerd door de stad. Ik woon nu in Londen en daar hoef je maar even een ommetje te maken om volop inspiratie te halen uit alle coole mensen die je tegenkomt, de waanzinnige architectuur, pop-up-galerieën, feestjes, festivals (nou ja, vóór COVID dan). Hier heeft iedereen zijn eigen stijl. Je gaat niet na het werk nog naar huis om je om te kleden voor een avondje uit, dus of je nu in de pub, de club of op kantoor bent; je draagt de hele dag hetzelfde. Dus dan kies je al snel voor een goede balans tussen casual en cool die altijd en overal werkt. Deze tuinbroek heb ik drie of vier jaar geleden gekocht. Ik had mezelf voorgenomen om hem te bewaren voor als ik mijn eerste huis met mijn vrouw had gekocht, en te dragen als ik het huis ga verven. En dat heb ik gedaan. Dit huis hebben we in november vorig jaar gekocht. En alle verf is authentiek, het resultaat van al het klussen aan het huis tijdens de lockdown.  Deze broek heb ik zelf in elkaar geknutseld. Dit is een roestoranje LVC Tab Twill van een paar seizoenen geleden. Ik heb hem een dip-dye gegeven in bad en daar kwam dit aparte camouflage-effect uit. Een geluk bij een ongeluk. De patches zijn gemaakt van materiaalresten van de Lot No. 1 locatie in Londen en een oude draagtas. Net als veel mensen had ik vooral in de eerste fase van de lockdown behoefte aan iets anders dan naar een scherm staren. Dus toen begon ik meer doe-het-zelfprojecten thuis te doen. Ik heb wat coole dingen gedaan met dip-dye en tie-dye, maar dat geeft nogal een zootje in de badkamer… en dan krijg ik problemen met mijn vrouw. Ik doe graag stikken, want daar kun je gewoon rustig bij zitten. Het is best rustgevend.  Ik heb een achtergrond in de muziek en dat heeft me op veel verschillende manieren geholpen in mijn carrière. Toen ik jong was, sprak hiphop me heel erg aan en later ben ik meer in de richting van house gegaan. Beide stromingen zijn gebaseerd op samplen, iets nieuws creëren uit oude platen. Ik zie parellellen tussen muzieksamples en hoe mensen hun jeans transformeren door er anders naar te kijken. Ik denk niet te veel na over hoe ik gekleed ga. Als je goed nadenkt over wat je koopt, komt de outfit er vanzelf wel goed uit. Ik heb kledingstukken die al vijf jaar in mijn kast hangen en als ik het dan met iets draag wat ik er nog nooit eerder bij aangetrokken heb, dan voelt het weer als nieuw. Ik geloof dat dingen bewaren heel belangrijk is. Als je je kleding blijft koesteren, haal je er meer inspiratie uit naarmate de tijd verstrijkt.
