collectie __Maak kennis met Blue Tab™ - onze meest hoogwaardige collectie tot nu toe. Het is een modern eerbetoon aan het erfgoed van Levi's®, gemaakt van eersteklas Japans denim en vormgegeven in opvallende, sculpturale silhouetten.__  ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎    We gingen aan tafel met Tracey Panek, Levi's® in-house historica, om de reis van onze denim door de decennia heen te volgen en onze nieuwste collectie van dichtbij te bekijken.  ### Selvedge Denim: Een ambacht met wortels in de geschiedenis De denim voor onze eerste Levi's® jeans werd gemaakt op smalle spoelweefgetouwen die strak geconstrueerde, rafelbestendige randen produceerden. Deze selvedge denim was ooit de standaard in de industrie.   Het was niet alleen een productiemethode. Het was een symbool van duurzaamheid, vakmanschap en zorg.  ## Vroege kledingstukken van Levi's® werden gemaakt van selvedge denim. Het is onderdeel van ons denim DNA. – Tracey Panek ### De verandering in de jaren tachtig: Kwantiteit vs. Ambacht In de jaren 1970 groeide Levi Strauss & Co. uit tot 's werelds grootste kledingmaker. De wereldwijde vraag explodeerde en de productie moest snel worden opgeschaald. Dat betekende dat de traditionele spoelweefgetouwen in het begin van de jaren tachtig werden ingeruild voor bredere, efficiëntere weefgetouwen. *“Cone Mills, onze leverancier van denim, heeft haar denimproductie verdubbeld door bredere weefgetouwen te gebruiken en de stof door midden te snijden om twee keer zoveel denim te produceren in ongeveer dezelfde tijd,”* legt Tracey uit. *“Maar zonder de smallere spoelweefgetouwen verloor de denim haar prachtige randdetails.”* Het resultaat? Een hogere productie van denim, maar ten koste van de afwerking van de selvedge.  ### De heropleving van een kunstvorm in Japan Terwijl de rest van de wereld verder ging, gingen veel van de ongebruikte spoelweefgetouwen naar Japan. Japanse ambachtslieden zijn deze traditionele spoelweefgetouwen blijven gebruiken en hebben zo een ambacht in stand gehouden dat anders misschien in de vergetelheid was geraakt. Vandaag de dag werkt Levi's® samen met deze Japanse fabrieken om de kant opnieuw te introduceren in geselecteerde kledingstukken van onze meest hoogwaardige collecties. Het is een natuurlijke pasvorm: Japans denim ontmoet het erfgoed van Levi's®.      ## EEN FRISSE KIJK OP BLUE TAB™ Dit is niet de eerste keer dat Levi's® een Blue Tab™ lijn introduceert. In de vijftiger jaren lanceerde Levi's® Denim Family een speciale collectie voor gezinnen met kleine blue tabs. Het bood gecoördineerde denimlooks voor ouders en kinderen.  Nu keert Blue Tab™ terug als onze meest hoogwaardige uitvoering tot nu toe, waarbij klassieke silhouetten worden voorzien van een modern tintje. Het is onze uitnodiging aan de volgende generatie van denimkenners. Want begrijpen waar iets vandaan komt, maakt het dragen ervan nóg krachtiger.
