1954 was an interesting year for the 501. This iteration is made with a narrower leg opening than most 501's in history. Fits more similarly to the modern 502 but with a high waisted fit. The big twist though, this is the only year that Levi's ever produced a 501 with zipper fly. If your going for the classic construction and denim feel from the 50's, but the modern fit and features like a zipper, this vintage piece is a must have. Throw them on with a pair of nice boots and give them a cuff to show off that thin redline selvedge; maybe a tucked in white t-shirt and you are the perfect blend of modern look, but classic appeal. Want to take it a step further? Toss on a nice black leather jacket and live life like Marlon Brando. Definitely one of my favorites from the LVC collection!

Nice jeans. I have had about a week. A little softer and more comfortable than I expected for raw denim. I used the bathtub soak/wear til dry method. I usually wear a W33 L30. I ordered a W34 L34. After first shrinkage the jeans fit great in the waist. A little baggier in the butt and calf areas than I expected for a tapered fit jeans but not overly so. The length shrunk just enough for me to still cuff if I want or wear stacked without cuff, so I think the length is great. Overall I am satisfied with the jeans, I have worn them everyday since I received them and they are softening up nicely and are very comfortable

A little too much “detail” for my husband’s taste. Around each back pocket there is extra “raw cut” fabric. It might look cool to some, but it seemed “extra”. I didn’t notice that detail when I ordered these online. Size up fellas if you’re looking for the vibe of the fit model, especially if you have semi muscular legs.
