Levi was going through some changes in 2009 to 2013 adding numbers in between to custom a fit to satisfy everyones build. I always wore the 514 slim straight, but then after 2009 I noticed they changed it a bit, then 2011 even more changes, then in 2014 or so it was completely changed 514 is now like a straight with baggy pants style and the 511 is more like the old 514 style. Add in the 513 style they kept changing around one can get confusing, but they finally got their numbers right this was after I spent over 1k in pants over 5 years during their changes.

My second pair of 511’s in a different wash. I’m 6 ft 195 lbs. and wear a 36 x 34. Their slim in the legs and the stretch provides great flexibility. Great pair of jeans.

I was excited to get the 511's based off the photos on the Levis site. They looked slim enough through the hips on down to the ankle on the model and the color a slight look of even wear all over, which is what I was going for. But when I tried them on they had more wear in the knees like someone had purposely tried to wear them in in certain spots - which I've never liked the look of. I'll do the natural wearing in myself and over time, they become mine. They fit well in the waist and hip but then started to billow out from my body as if I was wearing regular straight leg jeans, which look huge on me as I have a slight frame. If you're kind of skinny and looking for a jean that isn't too skinny, go for the Levis 512 Slim taper, which is what I'll be ordering again instead of the 511. I thought I might try something different in the 511 but the 512 is really what if you don't want skinny but you do need a slim jean that conforms a little more to the body on down through the legs and ankle. I'm cool w/ the different color rinses but the faux wear on jeans is lame. When you do the wearing, your jeans will tell YOUR story © CGoebbert 2018

I TRIED TO ORDER MODEL 511 38X29 AND THEY WERE NOT AVAILABLE. i GOT 38X30 AND THEY ARE TO LONG.

These jeans did fit as expected however, they had very pronounced fading on the knees which is not shown in the picture. They the also had a flaw on the front top of the leg where the tread in the weave had been tied on. Not likely a problem for someone who would not mind the whole that would eventually develop but that is not why I purchased these.

Especially compared to other 511's made of the same fabric, these jeans are surprisingly baggy. However, if you have very thick legs, they may fit you as you'd expect.

It seem's like Levi's idea of 511 slim is constantly changing. Each pair I've purchased has been a little slimmer, or a little looser. The pair I purchased online in march of 2017 border on "Dad jeans" territory. These are not slim. I guess they're tapered towards the bottom of the leg? But unless you're a cyclist with massive thighs, you're gonna have quite a bit of extra space. Going to wash and see if they shrink, fingers crossed. Although it's not typically my style, the baggier look is growing on me. And the Vintage Heart color is a really cool, old school unfaded blue denim.
