I've had 501 jeans for years and was perfectly happy with them. I always purchase the same size, just different colors. I recently bought two pair. They seem different. The material isn't as soft and seems more stiff. When they come out of the dryer they are wrinkly like crazy. In addition they seem to shrink after washing. Now both are too short. If Levis changed, I hope they change back. Otherwise I'll need to look for a different jeans.

I have been wearing 501's since I was a teenager. Over the years, Levi's has lessened t Original Fit Jeans" />Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JJEM These are for you people who like to look "new," or those in for the long haul
These are always the toughest jeans to wear, as we have softer, more comfortable, cooler looking 501's. And, if you break them in right, beat them to death but wash them correctly, in a year or two they will be you favorite comfy treasure. These are not something I am comfortable wearing in public for a year, they are too hard and dark, and 1955 geek like. These are strong for outdoor or trade work, and soon thes to develop a character that define who you are, and you will be wearing them 5-years later when they are in tatters, because they are "you."

I have been wearing the ORIGINAL "shrink to fit" 501 Jean for about 63 years or since I was 4. They have changed over the years but I feel the Levi has tried to stick to the idea of a great looking rugged pair of jeans. If your are a purist and want to feel the jean mold to your body as they will in time. And you are willing to go the process of breaking them in. You will have a pair of jeans that you can not do without. Kohl's is the only place I buy these, but they are a catalog order only. The original 501 jean they sell at the store are NOT "shrink to fit" and it took 30 minutes for the attendant and I to figure that out. He was only 20ish and did not know what I was talking about at first. He said he was going to try them out.
