These are not your regular 501 shorts... These shorts in the color black heart are thin and very breathable and they have 3% stretch comparing to all the regular 501's that are 100% cotton with NO stretch. All of my other 501 shorts are a size 27 but I did size down in these to a size 26. I did find them more flattering since they are fitted through the hip and thigh. I'm a sucker for a high rise look, since most 501's are mid rise. The cut off hem gives off the perfect not too plain also not over doing it look.

Old school cut off shorts - the best

I love that these shorts are 100% cotton. The cut and fraying looks genuine-just like the cut offs I made in high school. I love the original 501 fit. These run small to me, but it depends on what kind of fit you are looking for. I normally wear a 27 and that size was too tight thru the hips and crotch. Ended up with a 29 (28 sold out), and am happy with the fit. I wanted them on the loose side and that's what I got. Also, I can get them to shrink up a bit after washing and drying and they are perfect.

I just bought these but I wanted to comment on the sizing... i’m a 27 or 4 in gap sizes and I bought two different washes of these shorts... one wash fit me in 29 and the other still get too tight in 29... so I would definitely go up a couple sizes !
