WHAT WE WEAR ON THE RARE OCCASION WE LEAVE THE HOUSE

March 2021
Like us, you’ve probably been spending much more time at home these days. And things have gotten a little (or a lot) weirder in the sartorial department. The line between loungewear and workwear grows thinner with each show you binge. You get a little too dressed up for a casual trip out. Maybe you donned your Sunday best to drop off some freshly baked focaccia on your parents’ front porch (because we’ve moved on from our sourdough phase, right?). No shame, we’ve all done it.
With excursions being few and far between, we like to look at every venture out of the house as an excuse to put a little extra love into our looks. So here’s what we’re wearing to our favorite social distancing-friendly outings.
HIT THE BEACH
Sometimes we need to get away from it all. This last year more so than usual. At such times, you’ll likely catch us at a (secluded) beach in relaxed silhouettes, comfy shorts and a generous layer of SPF. And because we never miss golden hour if we can help it, we like to stand out with lively patterns and bold colors.
INTO THE WOODS
Striking that subtle balance between outdoor style, utility and comfort is a lot easier than it looks. And it all starts with the right fabrics. Think cozy fleece, I-can’t-believe-they’re-not-pajamas jersey, and durable denim with lots and lots of elastane. From there, it’s all about pockets, color and a pair of shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.
GO TO TOWN
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Denim on denim works anytime, anywhere, on anyone. Whether you’re picking up this week’s produce at the farmer’s market or showing off your chops on wheels, double denim does just the trick. The best part? It’s foolproof. There’s no need to match the washes, and since blue jeans blue is basically a neutral, you can wear this combo with literally anything.
