LEYNA BLOOM: My name is Leyna. The ballroom community, it anchored me in so many ways because it was it was the beginning of my education, of who I am, where I come from, where I can go. It’s a place where you can be anyone you ever imagined, where fantasy is accepted, where dreams and imagination is a new language in itself. It was a place where I can create an image for myself that the world told me I cannot have. It’s a place where my community can have healthy beautiful competition with each other, to be stronger, to learn, to grow, to build, it was my first runway, and I owe so much to the ballroom culture for all the beautiful faces and beautiful women that I’ve met that are my role models, you know, I owe so much to that community and I’m so excited to do anything that is wrapped around my rich, beautiful, flamboyant community. Every person that comes into our community, when they leave, they know it’s okay being exactly who they are.
