Voor deze National Coming Out Day heeft Unlabeled 8 LGBTQI+-iconen van over heel Europa uitgenodigd om te praten over hoe het was om zich te outen, en waarom het zo belangrijk is om bondgenoten te hebben in de LGBTQI+-gemeenschap. Voor LGBTQI+-personen zijn bondgenoten hetzelfde als Pride dat is voor liefde. Wanneer we onze krachten bundelen, vormen we een onverschrokken band die grenzen verlegt en ons aanzet om te vechten voor inclusiviteit, zowel nu als in de toekomst; zo maken we de generaties van de toekomst sterker. In een wereld waarin mensen en instellingen ons het zwijgen proberen op te leggen, moeten we onze stem laten horen en samen sterk blijven staan om een luidere en sterkere gemeenschap te worden. De kwaliteit van menselijke authenticiteit kent geen grenzen – ze doorbreekt, verdeelt, verbindt en is de perfecte ondergrond om gesprekken over gelijkheid op te bouwen. Daarom is het zo belangrijk om een platform te geven aan mensen die aanzetten tot verandering door hun verhalen te delen en hun verschillende realiteiten in de schijnwerpers te zetten. We zijn ervan overtuigd dat onze verschillen vieren en mensen de kans geven om zich te tonen aan de wereld de beste manier is om de normen in vraag te stellen en iedereen de kans te geven om elke dag een beetje ruimdenkender te worden. ### “Met je voorkeur naar buiten komen doe je niet alleen voor jezelf. Een bondgenoot zijn draait om het respectvol omarmen van iemands authenticiteit en verhaal. In onze reis naar zelfaanvaarding is de rol van bondgenoten fundamenteel. Ze moeten ons steunen wanneer we moeilijke dagen doormaken en genoeg geïnformeerd zijn om ons te verdedigen wanneer wij onze stem niet mogen laten horen. Het is ook heel belangrijk dat we ons ervan bewust zijn dat we in onze strijd om rechten en gelijkheid allemaal bondgenoten zijn. Die strijd, waar nooit een einde aan komt, moet ertoe leiden dat we samen sterk staan en bruggen bouwen tussen de verschillende segmenten van onze gemeenschap. We moeten elkaar aanvaarden en helpen, zodat we als gemeenschap steeds luider en groter worden. ### “Ik voelde me veilig om me tegenover mijn ouders te outen, omdat ze heel veel van me hielden. Maar meer dan wat ook is liefde leren. Het is onze verplichting om deze boodschap over te brengen aan de mensen om ons heen en verder weg, want door te leren kan je ook begrijpen. Daarom is het onze verantwoordelijkheid om onze bondgenoten meer te leren over onze verhalen en gevechten, zodat ze de juiste hulpmiddelen hebben om ons te verdedigen, om te handelen en onze stemmen te doen weerklinken over de hele wereld. Alleen zo kunnen we een beweging tot stand brengen voor liefde en gelijkheid, en mensen inspireren om zelf actie te ondernemen.
