locatie__](https://www.levi.com/NL/nl_NL/blog/category/on-the-scene) /  april 2021 Share  Het archief van Levi's® werd in 1989 opgericht. Het is een waardevolle collectie van kledingstukken, catalogi, advertenties en voorwerpen van over de hele wereld. De digitale collectie omvat meer dan 135.000 bestanden. Dit zijn de verhalen van de mensen die de cultuur vorm hebben gegeven door denim te dragen. De geschiedenis van ons bedrijf blijft bewaard door het verleden en het heden met elkaar te verweven.  “Levi Strauss & Co. heeft een rijke geschiedenis, maar voor de oprichting van het archief moesten we vertrouwen op losse anekdotes en ‘van horen zeggen’ om de authenticiteit van ons merk en onze traditie te onderbouwen”, zegt Bob Haas, voormalig CEO van Levi Strauss & Co. onder wiens leiding het archief in 1989 werd opgericht. In 2015 bracht Tracey Panek, historicus bij Levi Strauss & Co. en beheerder van het archief, de collectie naar het digitale tijdperk met de introductie van de Virtual Vault. ### EEN KIJKJE IN HET ARCHIEF In de ruimte ontdek je een schat aan materialen die de verhalen vertellen van echte mensen en hoe zij leefden in Levi's®. Zoals een foto van Bing Crosby uit 1951 waarop hij het denim smokingjasje draagt dat hij als cadeau had gekregen van Levi Strauss… en het echte jack is er ook. Je vindt er een uitgebreide fotocollectie die teruggaat tot het einde van de 19e eeuw in San Francisco. Zoals historische foto’s van naaisters die met denim in de weer zijn in het hoofdkantoor in San Francisco in de roerige jaren 20 van de vorige eeuw. Maar de collectie bevat ook veel actuele foto’s. Het team van het archief zet zich met veel passie in om over de hele wereld voorwerpen op te sporen en te restaureren. Ze zorgen ervoor dat onze geschiedenis en ons cultureel erfgoed niet in de vergetelheid raken door het verleden en het heden met elkaar te verweven.  ### DE VIRTUELE TOUR Neem eens een virtuele rondleiding door de ruimte. De blauwe kleur is geïnspireerd door de bekende blauwe brandwerende kluis. En onze kluis heeft een wel heel bijzondere inhoud: de oudste Levi's, die dateert uit de 19e eeuw. Neem een kijkje achter de schermen en ontdek het archief met beheerder Tracey Panek. Zij zal enkele kleurrijke en invloedrijke voorwerpen uit de geschiedenis van Levi's® uitlichten.
