niet vaak voor dat het leven je de kans geeft om alles opnieuw te doen. Dus toen het tijd was om een nieuwe pasvorm te lanceren voor de 150e verjaardag van onze 501® Original (met andere woorden onze allereerste spijkerbroek), vonden we het een goed idee om een gloednieuwe spijkerbroek uit te brengen die eigenlijk gebaseerd is op een heel oude spijkerbroek. En niet zomaar een oude spijkerbroek. Oude jeans met een look die helemaal vintage \*en* helemaal modern is. Een oude spijkerbroek met een pasvorm die onze huidige 501® line-up aanvult. Oude jeans met een omstreden verleden waarin haatmail, alligators en een van de meest iconische attributen van 501® jeans een rol speelden. Al geïntrigeerd? Hieronder geven we je het overzicht van onze nieuwe(re) 501® '54 Jeans, en bewijzen dat ouderwets er nog nooit zo goed heeft uitgezien. - [SHOP NU](https://www.levi.com/NL/nl_NL/c/levi_clothing_men_jeans/facets/feature-fit_name/501%C2%AE%20%2754) ### DE INSPIRATIE Rechtstreeks uit het Levi's®-archief getrokken en oorspronkelijk uitgebracht in 1954, is de schandalige 69 jaar oude jeans die je hier ziet onze 501®Z Jeans - oftewel de eerste 501® jeans met een rits in plaats van een knoopgulp. "Mensen waardeerden de rits niet," zegt Men's Design Director Steve Burns. "Het was destijds erg controversieel. Er kwamen allemaal verontwaardigde brieven terug. Iemand zei dat het is als 'plassen in de kaken van een alligator'." Gatver. Sorry voor dat mentale beeld. Maar je bent welkom voor 501® '54 Jeans - de nieuwe knoopgulp reïncarnatie van die jeans met rits van lang geleden. (Val ons alsjeblieft niet lastig, ritsfanaten. Wij houden ook van een rits; 501® jeans zijn er gewoon niet geschikt voor). Collega-denimfans zal het echter misschien opvallen dat we andere historische details van de oorspronkelijke versie met rits hebben behouden - een kleinere achterzakvorm en variaties in kleur, gewicht en plaatsing van het garen van de huidige 501® Originals. "Zelfs aan de binnenkant zijn er subtiele, betekenisvolle verschillen," zegt Steve. "Het knoopsgat is grijs, in tegenstelling tot bijpassend navy. Als je een beetje een nerd bent, dan spreekt het je wel aan."  ## Iemand zei dat het is als 'plassen in de kaken van een alligator'. – Steve Burns, Men's Design Director  ## DE PASVORM Als we zeggen dat er voor iedereen een 501® versie is, dan menen we dat ook - cross our hearts, hope to dye (een indigo grapje voor jou). "We keken naar het belang om een 501® fit portfolio op te bouwen dat alle lichaamstypen en stijlvoorkeuren aanspreekt," zegt Steve. De 501® '54 valt goed op je taille en heeft onze kenmerkende 501® anti-fit op het zitvlak en de dijen, maar slankere rechte pijpen. Dat tegenwicht is precies wat er bij de 501®-familie ontbrak. "Je krijgt de ruimte en het comfort aan de bovenkant, wat mensen waarderen, en dan geeft een lichte taper hem dat moderne randje," legt Steve uit. Dikkere dijen passen mooi in deze jeans, en het taps toelopende model is ideaal om je sneakercollectie te laten zien. ### DE AFWERKINGEN Als het gaat om wasbeurten en speciale effecten heb je eigenlijk twee mogelijkheden: 1) Houd het simpel met de blanco canvas aanpak van een schone indigo spoeling of 2) Duik diep in de wereld van gescheurde, gerepareerde, opnieuw bewerkte perfectie. "Er zijn tegenwoordig veel mensen aan het klussen en knutselen met hun jeans, vooral als ze uit de lockdown komen," zegt Steve. "Er is een trend van doe-het-zelf reparaties om je jeans langer mee te laten gaan, en ook zelfexpressie. Je stopt een element van jezelf in de spijkerbroek als hij op maat is gemaakt." Misschien hou je van het versleten uiterlijk van vintage (met permanente vuilvlekken en dergelijke). Misschien hou je van een totale creatieve opknapbeurt (dat doorgestikte patchwork is iets bijzonders). Of misschien ben je een fan van alle scheuren en het steek-op-steek herstelwerk. In elk geval kun je met deze afwerkingen pronken met jeans die er al uitzien alsof ze het een en ander hebben meegemaakt. Goed, dat is alles wat je moet weten over 501® '54 Jeans. Leuke geschiedenis?
