plezier hebben. Er komt alleen vast wel een moment waarop je deze moet krimpen. Je herkent dit vast wel. Je hebt de perfecte jeans gevonden in de perfecte wassing maar alleen is het model iets te lang. Of misschien heb je van je oudere zus, vriendin of moeder (die ooit eens cool was?) wel eentje gekregen. Misschien heb je per ongeluk de verkeerde maat gekocht en had je geen zin om terug te gaan naar de winkel. Of misschien draag je al vijf jaar lang elke dag dezelfde jeans. Hoe langer je denim draagt, hoe meer het oprekt. En dan vooral op plekken waar veel spanning op staat, zoals je knieën en je taille. Het leven is een lange weg vol keuzes. Als je af en toe je denim onderhoudt, weet je zeker dat je er goed uitziet, waar dan ook. Wil je weten hoe je je jeans kunt laten krimpen? Lees dan verder.  ## 1. Gooi je jeans in de wasmachine Krimpen jeans? Ja. Krimpen jeans in de wasdroger? Jazeker! De meeste mensen, of hun ouders, partners of huisgenoten, zijn per toeval op deze magische truc gestuit. En voor wie dit nieuw is, het is heel simpel: gooi je jeans in de wasmachine op een heet programma en daarna in de wasdroger totdat ze helemaal droog zijn. Door de warmte van de wasdroger krimpen ze namelijk behoorlijk. Een paar kanttekeningen hierbij. Ten eerste beschadigt de wasmachine je jeans waardoor ze sneller slijten en de kleuren sneller vervagen. De wasdroger maakt ze er ook niet mooier op en verbruikt bovendien veel energie. We raden je aan je jeans pas na 10 keer dragen te wassen. Medewerkers van Levi's® wassen onze jeans vaak maandenlang niet, en sommigen hebben ze zelfs nog nooit gewassen. (Maak je geen zorgen, we stinken niet.) Ten tweede gebruikt de wasmachine heel veel water, dus als alternatief kun je overwegen om… ## 2. Je jeans te koken (ja echt!) We zullen je vertellen waarom. Dit is niet de meest gebruikelijke manier om je jeans te laten krimpen of zelfs niet de gekste. Maar misschien wel de leukste. Zoals we al zeiden, verbruikt de wasmachine veel water en daar zit hem nou net het probleem. Maar daar hebben we een oplossing voor. Zorg eerst dat je een pan vindt waarin je jeans past. Of pak gewoon de grootste pan die je hebt. Vul deze bijna vol met water en breng dit aan de kook. (Het zout mag je achterwege laten, dat is voor de pasta.) Stop tot slot je jeans in de pan en wel 30 minuten lang. Til de broek daarna heel voorzichtig met een tang of een stok uit de pan en stop hem direct in de wasdroger. Zodra je jeans helemaal droog is, kun je gelijk genieten van de nieuwe look. ## 3. Stop je jeans in bad Dit is die ‘gekke’ methode waarover we het eerder hadden. En dat is niet zomaar zo. Zoals we al zeiden, moet je jeans niet te vaak wassen. Maar als je ze wast, doe het dan goed. Neem nou onze Levi's® 501® Shrink-to-Fit™ jeans. Deze is gemaakt van onbewerkt denim, en heeft dus geen behandelingen meer ondergaan na het verfproces. Deze jeans zijn ook duurzamer dan andere jeans in de markt, omdat ze tijdens het productieproces niet voorgekrompen zijn. Maar dat betekent niet dat ze niet meer krimpen. Als je ze in de machine wast, krimpen ze. Maar als je ze in bad draagt (onze favoriete methode), krimpen ze niet alleen, maar gaan ze ook als gegoten zitten. Als je jeans van onbewerkt denim koopt, neem wel dan je gebruikelijke taillemaat, maar een pijplengte die twee tot drie keer zo lang is. Draag de jeans, vul je bad met warm water en spring erin. Neem een boek mee, je mobiel of doe een dutje, want je zult hierin toch wel een half uurtje moeten weken. Stap daarna uit het bad, maar hou je jeans aan totdat deze helemaal opgedroogd is. (We raden deze methode niet aan als je niet veel tijd hebt.) Het denim wordt zo zachter en gaat zich naar je lichaam vormen. En eenmaal volledig droog ben jij de trotse eigenaar van de best passende jeans ooit, zonder dat hier een kleermaker aan te pas komt. ## 4. Strijk je jeans Als je op zoek bent naar een snelle manier om je jeans te laten krimpen, dan hebben we ook een tip voor je. Net als heet wassen hebben velen deze truc ook bij toeval ontdekt. En voor wie dit nieuw is, kun je het beste alleen bepaalde plekken laten krimpen waar veel spanning op staat, zoals bij de knieën, tailleband en het zitvlak. Bepaal eerst welke plekken wel wat strakker mogen en maak deze nat met wat water. Strijk deze plekken net zo lang totdat ze helemaal droog zijn. We raden deze methode niet aan als je grotere delen wilt laten krimpen. Dan kun je het beste een van onze andere beproefde methoden toepassen.  ## 5. Laat het over aan de pro’s Het laten krimpen van jeans kan best een uitdaging zijn en daarom is het soms beter om dit over te laten aan een expert. Als je jeans te groot zijn om er thuis mee aan de slag te gaan of als je een preciezere of meer permanente oplossing zoekt, kun je je jeans het beste langsbrengen bij onze Levi's® Tailor Shop.
