samenwerkingen__](https://www.levi.com/NL/nl_NL/blog/category/campaigns-and-collaborations) /  mei 2023 Share  Elk jaar in mei vieren we de verjaardag van de allereerste blauwe jeans van Levi's®. De officiële datum is 20 mei omdat op deze dag, in 1873, Levi Strauss en Jacob Davis patentnummer 139.121 kregen voor het proces om werkbroeken van klinknagels te voorzien om ze sterker en bestendiger te maken. We kennen die werkbroek allemaal als de 501® Original, met de vijf zakken, knoopgulp en rechte pasvorm die de blauwdruk zou worden van de hedendaagse jeans. Maar deze mei is iets bijzonders. Deze mei wordt het meest iconische denim ter wereld 150 jaar oud. Het is onze 501® Sesquicentennial (probeer dat een keer snel te zeggen). Dat is reden voor een feestje. Van limited edition stijlen tot exclusieve samenwerkingen en once-in-a-lifetime events, we schrijven denimgeschiedenis en nodigen jou uit om mee te doen. De eenvoudigste manier om mee te doen? Een 501® jeans aanschaffen. Bekijk hieronder enkele van de nieuwste hoofdstukken in ons 501® verhaal. ### EEN BANNERJAAR We geven toe dat we een beetje extra overdreven zijn gegaan met deze 501® Banner Print-capsule. Maar dat is omdat als er ooit een tijd was om je liefde voor Levi's® en 501® jeans over je hele lichaam te schreeuwen, dan is het dit jaar wel. “Ik ben een supernerd over Levi's®,” zegt Senior Textile Designer Holly Hapka, die het ontwerp met de hand maakte en – geen leugen – haar allereerste onderzoeksverslag op de lagere school schreef over 501® jeans. “Dus dacht ik na over het erfgoed van ons merk en hoe we dat konden uitspelen.” Holly en het ontwerpteam hebben zich laten inspireren door de reclamebanners van Levi's®, helemaal terug tot aan de jaren 1930. Ze hebben ontelbare uren besteed aan het matchen van de kleuren en aan het zo authentiek mogelijk maken van de lettertypes, afbeeldingen en tekst van de 501® Banner Print met die vintage banners uit de archieven van Levi's®. Toen het tijd werd om te zeefdrukken, was het proces doelbewust willekeurig, zodat elke jeans, Truckerjack, overhemd, tas en bucket hat anders is dan alle andere. “Als jij en je vriend allebei een Truckerjack bestellen, kun je ze naast elkaar leggen en ze zullen verschillend zijn,” zegt Holly. “Ik denk dat die one-of-one kwaliteit het extra speciaal maakt.” - [SHOP NU](https://www.levi.com/NL/nl_NL/c/levi_collections_501_banner)  ## Die one-of-one kwaliteit maakt het extra speciaal. – Holly Hapka, Senior Textile Designer  ## GROTE VERJAARDAG DENIM ENERGIE Trek je feestbroek aan. Maar even serieus – we hebben deze exclusieve, selvedge 501® Original gemaakt zodat, ook al zijn wij jarig, *jij je* de eregast voelt. Misschien weet je nog dat selvedge, of ‘self-edge’, die witte strook stof is die langs de binnenkant van de zoom van hoogwaardig denim loopt? Als je de onderkant van de pijpen omslaat en die strook ziet, weet je dat je jeans geweven is op een traditioneel weefgetouw met een smalle breedte – wat betekent dat hij uit een kleine partij komt, zeer duurzaam is en gemaakt is om er na verloop van tijd beter uit te zien en aan te voelen. (Kortom, dit zijn *echt* mooie jeans.) Maar wat dit exemplaar zo bijzonder maakt is de boodschap “150 YEARS OF 501® | LEVI STRAUSS & CO.” die we langs de topkwaliteit selvedge stof hebben gestikt, ter herinnering aan 150 jaar originaliteit en vakmanschap. En na al die tijd hebben we zowat alle mogelijke aanpassingen gezien. Dus ter ere van anderhalve eeuw mensen die zich hun Levi's® eigen maken, hebben kledingstukken met speciale afwerkingen in beperkte oplage gemaakt die een knipoog geven naar enkele van onze favoriete gepersonaliseerde exemplaren door de jaren heen. “Het is inspirerend, dit idee om aandenkens uit je leven en reizen te verzamelen en ze op een jeans te zetten,” zegt Steve Burns, Design Director voor herenkleding. “Het is alsof je er een tapijt van herinneringen van maakt.” Om de tapijten (ook wel vintage 501® jeans genoemd) te vinden die dit seizoen hun muzen zouden worden, ging ons ontwerpteam naar de grootste en beste kringloopwinkels, en waagde zich zelfs in het archief van Levi's®. Soms hebben ze een doe-het-zelf element precies nagemaakt en soms hebben ze het gemoderniseerd of hun eigen persoonlijke touch toegevoegd.
