Here at Levi’s®, we believe everyone is an original with a unique story to tell. And since a picture is worth a thousand words in the story-telling economy, we figure a video has got to be worth at least a million. That’s why we partnered with VICE on a series that profiles true originals making their mark on their community through the healing power of art. This month the spotlight is on Fana Hues and Jazzi McGilbert. Read on to learn more about these inspiring women and watch the video to hear their story in their own words.
FANA HUES
Fana Hues is a talented artist who has a strong love for music and for the nonprofit Aim 4 The Heart. From collaborating with her musical family or focusing on emotional literacy and incarceration rights, Fana Hues is a rising star in front of the scenes and behind the scenes of LA music. JAZZI MCGILBERT
Jazzi McGilbert is the founder & owner of Reparations Club, a concept book shop + community space curated by Blackness™ + POC in Los Angeles across poetry and performance. Not only does this platform redefine the digital and in-person experience of a bookstore, it comes to life through live programming (author-led roundtables, in-person book signings from politically minded authors) creating a space of learning and belonging for readers and authors of color.
I wanted to create a space where I felt really seen. That’s really important, because we’re not alone out here.
